Nancy Sit Ka Yin as Yau Nim Chi
Respected, powerful, and wise, Yau Nim Chi is the head of the Kam family. Her rich and classy appearance hides her past as a bandit. Thirty years ago, Nim Chi was the infamous Choi Fung Wong, who stole from the rich to give wealth to the poor. While she loves Kam Nin, Kam Yuet, and Kam Yat dearly, they are in fact not her birth children. Nim Chi met the triplet's father thirty years ago and fatefully helped their mother to give birth to them. Shortly after their birth, their mother passed away. At first Kam Wah didn't like Nim Chi, mostly because of her status as a bandit. However, he soon falls for her and she decides to leave the bandit world and remain with him, helping to raise his kids and also his deceased wife's brother, Yau Nim Fu. Thus, she became known as "Yau Nim Chi" from there on and became "Tung Mat Yuen"'s admired boss in "Chi Lik Cung Village." She would do anything for her family and almost always helps them get out of a pinch with her wisdom and skillful martial arts. She makes great strides and sacrifices for her loved ones. While Nim Chi is great and dependable, she is sometimes very foolish, hates to lose face, and isn't always as "good" as she believes she is. When the Emperor first saw her face, he was shocked. It turns out that the Empress's appearace is identical to Nim Chi...

Frankie Lam Man Lung as Kam Nin
Kam Nin is the eldest of the Kam triplets. He's the ideal big brother - intelligent, witty, dignified, filial, and handsome. He is the person that his family members turn to when they have a problem. His biggest flaw is that he is too frank. He hates people who are dishonest and will always let others know exactly how he feels. Ah Nin passed the Imperial Civil Service Exam and became a fifth-ranking official, working for three years in the capital city. His honest tongue offends Her Highness, Princess Sam Tin, when he writes that she's "childish" and "doesn't know the hardships of the common people." Furious, she demotes him to a lowly ninth-ranking official and Ah Nin is sent back to his hometown to become their "Parent Official." He has to deal with the townspeople's sometimes ludacris cases and makes sure that justice prevails in "Chi Lik Cung Village." Fatefully, Ah Nin meets again with the Princess whom he offended and after she deceives his mother and takes on the identity of "Gung Yan Soh," their meetings become frequent and the two are a bickering pair due to constant misunderstandings. Gradually, love blossoms and after much struggles, Ah Nin is able to win the Princess's heart. After marrying her, he helps the Emperor with state affairs and politics...

Michael Tse Tin Wah as Kam Yuet
Sickly and weak, both in body and mind, Kam Yuet is the second son of the Kams. Almost the opposite of his big brother, Ah Yuet is indecisive and a push-over. He daren't displease anyone, especially not his wife, Lam Yuk Lo; which is why he's teased as a "slave" for his wife. In truth, he is a playboy and not serious about work, which worries Nim Chi. However, because she lost him when he was younger and he's physically weak by nature, she's lenient with him, which might explain why he's spoiled. Once, Ah Yuet became deathly ill and the only solution was to have a "happy event" in the family. Thus, Nim Chi marries a concubine for him and consequently Sek Mei is brought into the family, becoming Ah Yuet's second wife. While on the exterior the idea of having two wives seems great, it's constant headaches for Ah Yuet, who always finds himself in their middle of the quarrels and jealousy. The two women vie for his attention and affections. After moving to the Imperial Palace, Ah Yuet is given a post in the Imperial Pharmacy. Due to his sickly childhood, he knows medicines like the palm of his hand and succeeds in his job. As if two women weren't enough, he catches the eye of desperate and lonely Sa Sa Gwun Ju, who would do anything to have him, including tricking him to divorce Ah Lo and Ah Mei! In the end, these three people are in a non-stop love-hate scenario. He surpasses everyone in the family, being the first to marry and bearing two sons...

She constantly argues with her second sister-in-law, Lam Yuk Lo, because of a misunderstanding that occured between them in the past and destroyed their friendship. Because she feels she is so superior, she found it hard to find a match that was suitable for her to marry. When she discovers that the town's poorest man, Ko Yi Hong, fancied her, she was so horrified that she insulted him to death and even pushed him off a bridge! When she hears that he returned from the capital and has passed the Imperial Civil Service Exam, she feels regretful, but quickly finds a way to make sure that she becomes his wife. Because she is prideful, she refuses to divorce and trains him to become the "perfect" man so that he doesn't embarrass her. Ah Yat is very controlling of Ah Hong, often treating him like her "wife" instead of husband. She takes all of his money and dictates how he should act and while other wives serve their husbands, Ah Yat is served by Ah Hong. It seems like the two aren't a loving couple, but eventually, Ah Hong becomes much more than she ever could have imagined in her life and Ah Yat finds true happiness...

Louis Yuen Siu Cheng as Yau Nim Fu
Yau Nim Fu is the "man" of all men... or so he thinks. Arrogant, a show-off, greedy, selfish, and self-conscious, Nim Fu is the family's uncle. He oftens lies or twists the truth to save his face. His greatest skill is making "Tung Mat Yuen"'s famous noodles, which he is very proud of and keeps the secret to himself, so when Kam Yat asks him to teach her husband how to make noodles, he hides the most important step. Wan Ying Gei is his loving wife, while he, on the surface, appears to be a womanizer. Thus her family members often grow frustrated with her and use her "stupidity" to their advantages. However, Ying Gei doesn't mind as she knows they care about her, despite their taunts and teases. Even though she and Nim Fu have been married for over seven years, they have difficulty conceiving. Ying Gei's greatest wish is to have a child and she is desperate to have one, constantly buying "Goddess of Mercy" statues and trying every remedy and "secret" to conceiving that's out there. She loves Nim Fu very much and would give her life to save his. At times, it seems that she's in an abusive relationship, with him relentlessly criticizing and sometimes beating her, but in fact, the two are deeply in love and could never part. This "zombie" would be incomplete without her "Taoist master" keeping her in his sight...

Ah Lo is very vain; she wants to be perceived as a woman who has it all, from beauty to wealth, and will not settle for anything but the best. When Ah Yuet is obligated to marry a concubine, Ah Lo has a fit, but her passionate hate for Sek Mei began much earlier when her pig accidentally landed on her! She is always on the lookout for herself and constantly in a tongue-battle with "pig-headed" Ah Mei. When the two are divorced by Ah Yuet due to an evil scheme, the two form a sisterly bond. However, this bond isn't so great when Ah Yuet appears in the picture again and wants to re-marry them. Wanting to keep Ah Mei out of her wedding, Ah Lo plots to send her away. Ah Mei discovers her scheme and fights back. Thus, the tables are turned and Ah Lo changes from the wife to the concubine! Bitter and full of resentment because her pride had been hurt, Ah Lo continues to plot to keep up her face. While it may seem that Ah Lo is selfish and snobby, which she is indeed, she isn't so cold-hearted. She subtly returns kindness and favors, but dares not to be viewed as too friendly for fear of ruining her image and being hurt...
